LEARN HOW TO IMPROVISE & GROOVE
If you are interested in having private online classes please tell me a little bit about your background and what areas you would like to work in the form below.

These are some of the areas in which I focus my work:

Percussion techniques (chop, chopping) on stringed instruments:
Since I was a child I have always been fascinated by percussion. In 2016 I gained a Master of Arts, during which I explored the use of percussive techniques using the violin, in order to expand  the possibilities beyond  its traditional use as a melodic instrument. Since then I have incorporated these techniques into many diverse projects of mainly duet and trio formats.

Not only we will focus on the technical execution of “chopping”, but also on how to internalise and develop a sense of time (groove) through progressive exercises, whilst they are being creatively applied.

Jazz Improvisation (Beginner-Advanced)
We will pay attention to aspects such as:

  • How to structure the study
  • Ear development exercises
  • Musical theory: II-V-I, substitutions, phrases (licks), etc…
  • Phrasing and use of the bow in improvisation

Exploring the Flamenco violin (Advanced level)
In the last seven years I have had the opportunity to develop and share the stage with great artists in the field of flamenco music. These are some of the aspects we can work on:

  • Understanding the most common “palos” (sub-styles or rhythms)
  • – Searching for a Flamenco “sound”, phrasing and specific joints
Improvisation or “falsetas” and more recurrent phrases
  •  Terminology
